“If you want to go fast, go alone; if you want to go far, go together.”

Thought to have originated from an African proverb, there is no shortage of the ‘prominent and political’ citing this quote for its truth.

Sustainability is collaborative by nature. And all around the world, across industries, organisations, and governments we are seeing more urgent, concerted efforts to collaborate for positive impacts.

Commitments such as The Paris Agreement, a legally binding international treaty on climate change, provide a framework for financial, technical, and capacity-building support to those countries who need it.

To respond to the increasing urgency needed if we are to address global challenges, governments and organisations are setting sustainability commitments that align with the UN SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals), which call for action to promote prosperity while protecting the planet.

Recognising that ending poverty must go hand-in-hand with strategies that build economic growth and address social needs while tackling climate change and biodiversity loss, UN SDG 17 also clarifies that the goals can only be realised with strong and collaborative global partnerships.

“A successful development agenda requires inclusive partnerships — at the global, regional, national and local levels — built upon principles and values, and upon a shared vision and shared goals placing people and the planet at the centre.”

We’re not leaving anyone behind

For us, collaboration is key to building a sustainable business. Real change only happens when everyone works together and we believe in strength in numbers.

Uniting the very diverse minds of business, governments, and society to work in the same direction with a common goal, can spark innovation that generates far-reaching power and progress. Likewise, when forward-thinking organisations meaningful engagement to create positive change, ambitious sustainability targets can turn into actions that really hit the ground with serious impact.

We must all do our part, and while the role you play will be unique to your own set of circumstances, be it geographical, economic, political, or cultural, a better future is dependent on a collective contribution. At FuturePlus we believe that all businesses, regardless of their circumstances, can contribute towards positive social and environmental change.

Let’s team up

By breaking down barriers, and offering accessibility and transparency, we’re making sure opportunities are open to every organisation, regardless of size, industry or location.

It’s all about sparking and catalysing a movement for good, we’re building a groundswell of businesses to encourage others, and the FuturePlus community is continually expanding to support and collaborate with organisations that want to have a more positive impact on the world.

After all…

“ In the long history of humankind (and animal kind, too) those who learned to collaborate and improvise most effectively have prevailed.”
