“The most important place on Earth is not on land, but at sea.” - Sir David Attenborough

Our co-founders, Alex Smith and Mike Penrose, were honoured to attend the premiere of Ocean, Sir David Attenborough’s powerful new documentary, hosted by Arksen and 10% for the Ocean.

Mike, as a Trustee of 10% for the Ocean, was particularly proud of the role they had played in co-producing the film, and its importance for global audiences.

As Sir David turns 99, Ocean is both a celebration of a remarkable lifetime and a deeply urgent call to action. The film makes one thing abundantly clear: the ocean is not only a cradle of biodiversity but our greatest ally in the fight against climate change.

From stark footage of seabed destruction to stories of hope and regeneration, like the return of the great whales, Ocean is a reminder that there is still time, if we choose to act.

Thank you to everyone involved in this extraordinary film. It’s now available in selected cinemas nationwide.

Sustainability isn't just good for the planet: it's good for business

On Wednesday, we hosted an inspiring breakfast with leading voices from the hospitality sector to explore how data-driven sustainability is becoming a commercial advantage across the industry. Held at The Broadcaster, White City (thank you to Open House London Ltd), the event featured thought-provoking insights from Kyle C Grant-Talbot (Oxwash), Tom Stanley (Williams Stanley & Co), Alexandra Smith (FuturePlus) and was brilliantly moderated by Ben Walton.

Key takeaways:

  • Waste is a red flag: Poor margin control often reveals deeper sustainability issues. Monitoring waste, from food to linens, isn’t just good practice, it’s cost-saving.
  • Client expectations are changing: More corporate clients are demanding sustainability credentials from hospitality providers. It's no longer optional, it's a procurement prerequisite.
  • Measure to manage: Sustainability efforts must be embedded in everyday reporting. What gets measured, gets improved.
  • Rethink the narrative: Sustainability should be viewed not as a cost centre, but as a driver of long-term value and competitive edge.

A huge thanks to everyone who joined the conversation.
